You've probably scrolled past a puppy yoga video on Instagram and thought, "I need to do that." Maybe you've even searched for a class in your city and come up short. If you're in Marbella, the Costa del Sol, or planning a trip to southern Spain, here's the one you've been looking for — and what to expect when you book.
What is Pups & Yoga?
Pups & Yoga is the original puppy yoga studio. We run 60-minute classes that pair guided yoga with free-roaming, ethically-raised puppies — across 11 studios in Spain, Canada, and the USA. Tens of thousands of clients have taken a class with us, and our average Google rating across all locations sits at 4.7+ stars.
In Marbella, our home is the Anantara Villa Padierna Palace Benahavís Marbella Resort: a five-star sanctuary nestled between the Mediterranean Sea and the Sierra Bermeja mountains, surrounded by lush Andalusian gardens and three Robert Trent Jones golf courses. It is, simply, one of the most beautiful settings in Europe to do absolutely anything — let alone yoga with puppies.
The 60-minute class format
Every Pups & Yoga class — Marbella included — follows the same three-part structure:
- 20 minutes of guided yoga, no puppies. A gentle warm-up to settle in. You're led by a certified instructor through breathwork and accessible poses. The puppies stay in their settle area.
- 20 minutes of yoga while the puppies roam freely through the space. They climb on mats, sniff feet, nap under your downward dog. This is the magic.
- 20 minutes of unstructured play time with the puppies. No more yoga — just floor time, cuddles, and photos. Bring your camera.
Classes are designed for all levels. Most attendees are first-timers. No prior yoga experience required.
The venue: Anantara Villa Padierna Palace
Our Marbella sessions take place at the Anantara resort — about 15 minutes from Puerto Banús and 25 minutes from Marbella Old Town, in the municipality of Benahavís. The class is held in a serene space within the resort grounds, with panoramic sea-and-mountain views.
This is what makes Marbella different from our urban studios in Boston or Montréal:
- You're at a five-star resort, not a city studio — the atmosphere is closer to a wellness retreat than a workout class.
- Andalusian gardens, sweeping fairways, and Mediterranean light frame the entire experience.
- The Anantara spa, restaurants, and golf courses are right there if you want to make a day of it.
- Complimentary refreshment drinks are served as part of the experience — infused water, tea, and other light refreshments. Sit, sip, and stay a while after class.
You can read more about the studio, including transit and parking, on our Marbella location page.
What you'll actually experience
Here's what guests tell us makes a Pups & Yoga class memorable — at any location, but especially in Marbella:
The puppies
Typically 6–12 puppies per class. They come from licensed, ethically run breeder partners we vet personally. Each puppy attends only during its developmentally appropriate socialization window (8 to 14 weeks). They are never used for back-to-back classes. Each puppy can rest, eat, or step away from the room whenever they want.
The instructors
All Marbella classes are taught by certified yoga instructors — not pet handlers running yoga sessions. They guide the class bilingually so international guests and local Spanish residents feel equally at home.
The vibe
It is calmer than you expect. Yes, puppies are chaotic — but the format is designed so the chaos is held inside a frame of mindful, gentle movement. People often tell us it's the calmest hour of their week.
Who is this for?
Pups & Yoga Marbella is for:
- Anantara hotel guests looking for a unique wellness add-on to their stay.
- Local residents of Marbella, Puerto Banús, Benahavís, Estepona, Nueva Andalucía, San Pedro, and Málaga who want a wellness experience unlike anything else on the Costa del Sol.
- Couples, friend groups, or anyone celebrating something — a birthday, a bachelorette, an anniversary, a "we made it through this year" milestone.
- Wellness travelers — anyone who plans trips around the experiences, not the postcards.
- First-time yoga people. Truly. You'll be fine.
You do not need to be staying at the resort to attend. Classes are open to the public.
